Our pal Jason Dunn is having a great season at Dells Motor Speedway. Three weeks of racing, three fast times, and three feature wins!

I've always wanted some swag featuring the 1920's Miller racers, but I've never found any, so I took matters into my own hands and created some that is now available from Cafepress. Take a look at http://www.cafepress.com/daiseydesigns . I redrew the Miller logo as a vector drawing, so the artwork is very sharp. The photo of Pete DePaolo is one that I colorized myself.

Haven't posted any updates lately since it's rather slow going. I've been working on some customer projects, as well as the Heath Super Parasol, which has actually progressed to the point of assembling a prototype. You can follow that progress here.
I have actually fiddled a bit with the 1/18 Yenko Stinger and the Wittman "Chief Oshkosh," but still a ways from finishing either. I also started on a Watson Indy roadster, but only to the point of a few developed pieces.

Finally released the Stinger/Corv-8 kit. Within a few days, I will make the '64 Spyder and Stinger/Corv-8 kits available as laser-printed kits. If there is sufficient demand, I am considering offering other kits in printed form.

Welcome Gokart!

Well, my wife decided she couldn't be without a kitty anymore. So, thanks to the great folks at the Dane County Humane Society, we are now the parents of a brown tabby kitten. He got the name Gokart while in their care and we felt it fit so we didn't change it.

He even shares my taste in movies. He watched Harold Lloyd's "The Freshman" with me for a solid 5 minutes.

RIP Moto 9/14/02-11/12/05

What a crappy weekend. Our beloved kitty Moto had to be put to sleep due to the effects of feline leukemia virus (FELV). The picture is one of the last I took of her on 10/31. She had started the final downhill slide but was still playful.
Rest in peace, my fuzzy friend.

The Paperwarbirds.com 2005 contest results are in! My Snipe got 1st in the DCM category! Link

For those of you waiting patiently for the Stingers, I promise I'm still working on them! I decided to get fancy with them, and have now designed many option parts for the kit. Now you will be able to add a front spoiler and outside mirrors if you like, plus you can build a separate chassis with built-up wheels. And, there will be 3 wheel options: Minilite, Camaro 5-spoke, and blue Yenko steel wheels with Goodyear Speedway Blue Streak tires!

Another project I have been working on for some time is coming along nicely: the Heath-Henderson lightplane engine. Once this is done, then I'll finish the Heath Parasol for it. Initial plan is to design at 1/16 scale. Yes, that's a big scale, but the Parasol is a small plane, so wingspan is around 19 inches. The big scale will allow good engine and interior detail. Here's a preview of the engine:

Still working on picking the final nits before releasing the Stingers. Taking longer than I'd hoped due to building a contest model, a DCM Sopwith Snipe - pics here.
I'm also taking some time to try to learn to use Metasequoia in hopes of speeding up simpler projects.

Went to the IRL weekend at Milwaukee, and I got Buddy Rice to sign my Indy 500 program on the page with the picture of my model. Pretty sweet! Also got to see Jim Dunn win the limited late model feature at the Dells Motor Speedway in the daisey-designs.com-sponsored #71: link

Latest projects: Almost done with the '66 (White w/blue) Yenko Stinger, to be followed closely by a '67 (Blue w/white) Stinger and another LM Corvair, probably a V-8 'Vair. I've also been working on the 2005 Buddy Lazier/Pennzoil Panther #95 IndyCar.

My own pet projects have been on hold for a few weeks, as I've been working on a couple of custom IPS cars for Nick Bussell and Wade Cunningham. They'll be available as freebies from Nick and Wade's websites. Both models look great!

First post

Hello all,
I'm starting this blog in order to keep our customers and fans abreast of the goings-on at the Daisey Designs World Headquarters on the 51st floor of the Daisey Building in beautiful downtown Marshall, WI. Mainly, I want to keep everyone updated on the status of my model design projects, since I'm not particularly orderly about finishing things. I like to have several projects going at once, and a few more in reserve.

List 1: Designs that have a significant portion completed
1. 1966/67 Yenko Stinger (1/32 and 1/18) - 1/32 is about 80% there, 1/18 has wheels and a preliminary chassis. Body is waiting for the 1/32 version to be done, since it mostly just needs to be scaled up.
2. 1937 Flying Aces "Moth" (1/4 and 1/3) - a model of a model. About 75% done.
3. 1935 Wittman "Chief Oshkosh" (1/24) - was completed through a color test model, but I have to go back and redesign the wings and most of the fuselage.
4. 2005 Kenny Brack #15 Panoz-Honda Indy car (1/32) - just a modification of the Buddy Rice 2004 model from the 2005 Indy 500 program.
5. 2005 Danica Patrick #16 Panoz-Honda Indy car - same as above.
6. 2005 Felipe Giaffone #48 Panoz-Toyota Indy car - recolor of above.
7. 2004 Larry Foyt #41 Panoz-Toyota Indy car - same as above.
8. 2005 Buddy Lazier #95 Dallara-Chevy Indy car (1/18) - 3D design done, about 50% new design compared to my 2003 models.

List 2: Designs with CAD drawings started, but little to no model design yet
1. Kurtis 500C/D Indy roadster
2. Heath Parasol lightplane
3. Heath-Henderson lightplane engine - for Parasol and Church Midwing

List 3: Potential future projects
1. 1931 Church Midwing lightplane
2. 1920's Miller 91/122 rear-drive
3. 1960's Watson Indy roadster
4. 1911 Marmon Wasp
5. 1942 Bell XP-77 fighter
6. 1938 Crosby CR-4 racer
